Megawin Introduces Its First CAN-Enabled MCU

As electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems, industrial automation, and smart control applications continue to expand rapidly, CAN (Controller Area Network) has become one of the most widely adopted communication standards for reliable device-to-device networking. For applications requiring real-time control and dependable communication, MCUs with integrated CAN functionality have become an essential design choice. 
Key Applications of MCUs with Integrated CAN
To address these growing market demands, Megawin Technology introduces the new MG32F02N Series microcontrollers. As Megawin's first Cortex-M0 MCU featuring an integrated CAN controller, the MG32F02N series is designed for applications such as EV instrument clusters, energy storage displays, industrial control panels, and smart energy equipment requiring reliable CAN communication.


Dual Advantages: CAN 2.0 + LCD Integration
The MG32F02N series combines CAN communication and LCD display control in a single MCU, helping developers simplify system architecture while reducing overall system cost.
For communication, the MCU fully supports CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B, and is compatible with CAN FD network architectures, with communication speeds of up to 1 Mbit/s. It also integrates two receive FIFOs and six acceptance filters with identifier masks, providing flexible message filtering and efficient data management for improved communication reliability and system performance.
For display applications, the built-in LCD controller supports up to 288 display points (8 COM × 36 SEG), making it well suited for instrument clusters, industrial control panels, smart meters, and various display terminals.

High Integration Reduces Development Complexity
Beyond CAN and LCD functionality, the MG32F02N integrates an Operational Amplifier (OPA) and a Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) with up to 128× programmable gain, enabling direct sensor signal conditioning with improved measurement accuracy while minimizing the need for external analog components.

The LCD subsystem also features an integrated Charge Pump, eliminating the need for an external LCD driving voltage. In addition, flexible COM and SEG pin assignment provides greater PCB layout flexibility, helping reduce board size and overall system cost.

Ultra-Low Power for Battery-Powered Applications
Designed for portable and battery-operated devices, the MG32F02N features an ultra-low-power architecture.
In Sleep Mode, current consumption is approximately 500 nA at VDD = 3.3 V, and can be reduced to approximately 400 nA at VDD = 3.0 V. This outstanding standby performance makes the MCU an ideal choice for lithium battery-powered devices, smart meters, portable instruments, and energy management systems requiring extended operating life.
