Applications of LDOs with MCUs

An LDO (Low Dropout Regulator) is a type of linear voltage regulator that converts a higher input voltage into a stable, lower output voltage. Its key feature is its very small dropout voltage—the minimum difference required between input and output voltages. Additional characteristics are summarized below:

The combination of LDOs and MCUs is widely used in embedded systems that require a stable and low-voltage power supply. LDOs provide MCUs with low-noise and stable voltage sources, ensuring reliable system operation and improving overall performance.

The Introduction of Megawin Technology LDO Products Lines

Over the past two years, Megawin Technology has successively launched a variety of LDO products (such as CR78L33/L05, CR2105, CR2202, CR2402, and CR2503) to meet diverse voltage and application requirements.

Among them, the CR2402 supports an input voltage up to 40V, while the CR2105 offers an even higher voltage tolerance of up to 100V.

To address the needs of mid- to high-voltage applications, Megawin Technology has recently introduced the new CR2601, a 60V-rated LDO regulator designed specifically for battery-powered motor products—such as cordless vacuum cleaners, power tools—as well as smoke detectors and other home appliances.

New Product: CR2601 Features

The CR2601 features an ultra-low quiescent current of less than 5μA at no load, making it ideal for standby power applications.

It delivers excellent Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR) performance of 60dB at 1kHz, along with superior line and load transient response, ensuring stable regulation during sudden input voltage or load current changes.

The CR2601 is offered in SOT23-5, SOT893, and SOP8-EP surface-mount packages. It integrates multiple protection features, including undervoltage lockout (UVLO), short-circuit and overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown.

In addition, it complies with the 2kV Human Body Model (HBM) ESD standard, further enhancing system safety and reliability.
